Delhi-NCR Faces Disruptive Rainfall: Full Update

Delhi-NCR experienced heavy rain, causing waterlogging, traffic disruptions, and forecasted continued rain activity.

Delhi-NCR woke up to heavy rain on Thursday. Waterlogged roads appeared across several areas. Traffic faced major disruptions as a result.

Gurugram also received intense rainfall. Several locations in the city recorded high amounts in the last 24 hours.

Sohna measured 110 mm of rain. Gurugram sub-district received 97 mm during the same period. Meanwhile, Kadipur and Harsaru each recorded 74 mm, according to the district administration.

Gurgaon Police responded to the heavy monsoon rain. Officials urged corporate offices and private firms to allow work from home on August 6 and 7. The India Meteorological Department had issued an orange alert for the region.

The strong rainfall caused waterlogging and traffic problems in parts of Gurugram and the wider NCR. At the same time, it brought some relief from recent humid conditions.

Residents now ask whether rain will return on Friday, August 7. The India Meteorological Department forecasts continued rainfall activity over Delhi-NCR. Intensity and distribution may vary from one locality to another.

Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi remain under the rainfall outlook. Isolated heavy rain stays possible in these areas. Therefore, Friday is unlikely to stay completely dry across the capital region.

However, the forecast does not suggest another spell as intense as Thursday’s rain in Gurugram. Rain is expected, yet it may lack the same strength.

The current weather forms part of an active monsoon phase over northern India. Weather systems and the monsoon trough continue to support rainfall over Delhi, Haryana, and nearby parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

Cloudy skies and intermittent rain may persist in the coming days. Rainfall will likely remain uneven across the region. After Thursday’s heavy downpour, Friday could bring more rain. The exact amount in any neighbourhood will depend on the movement of rain-bearing clouds.
