The India Meteorological Department has issued alerts for heavy to very heavy rain across several states. The warnings come amid an active monsoon. Eastern Rajasthan is likely to receive the heaviest rainfall today.
The department has also flagged heavy to very heavy rain in parts of Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Western Uttar Pradesh, Western Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Odisha. These alerts follow widespread rainfall recorded in many areas over the past 24 hours.
In Rajasthan, the weather department expects thunder, strong winds, and rain in several regions. Changes in atmospheric pressure over western and central parts of the state may trigger sudden weather shifts. Authorities have issued an orange alert for Barmer, Balotra, and Jalore districts.
A yellow alert covers a larger set of districts. These include Jaipur, Beawar, Ajmer, Tonk, Bhilwara, Rajsamand, Sawai Madhopur, Karauli, Sirohi, Udaipur, Nagaur, Didwana-Kuchaman, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, Hanumangarh, Pali, Jodhpur, Salumbar, Pratapgarh, Dungarpur, Banswara, Chittorgarh, and Bundi.
Intermittent rain is likely across most parts of Rajasthan. Many of these districts may also see moderate thunder, lightning, and sudden strong winds. Similar conditions are expected to continue in the coming days. Western border districts such as Barmer, Balotra, and Jalore remain at higher risk of lightning and intense rain spells.
